NATO leaders will approve the spread of new forces for Eastern allies and more support for Ukraine in response to the Russian war in its neighbors, Head of Alliance Jens Stoltenberg said on Wednesday.
The leaders of the US-led military alliance met on Thursday in Brussels for the emergency summit because West Grapple with the most severe security crisis in decades.
Stoltenberg said the Allies would sign to send four “groups of battles” to East Bulgaria, Hungary, Romanian members, and Slovakia as part of an effort that had seen thousands of troops shifting closer to Russia.
“I hope the leaders will agree to strengthen NATO posture in all domains with an increase in the main strength in the eastern part of the alliance, on the ground, in the air and at sea,” he said.
The battle group will match the spread that has seen 5,000 NATO troops placed opposite the Baltic and Poland since 2017.
This alliance in addition to weighing the main long-term boost further for his troops in the East as a close allies of Russia called enough troops to be sent to ward off the potential attack on Moscow.
“We will do what is needed to ensure that we protect and defend all allies,” Stoltenberg said.
NATO has rebelled the request from non-members of Ukraine to intervene to help stop the cremlin malignant attack by imposing zones without flies because fear will be dragged into a broader conflict with Russian nuclear power.
But allies have sent weapons of weapons to Ukraine to help fight the Kremlin troops.
Kyiv appealed to an anti-airplane system and war aircraft and President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to repeat the call in an address to NATO leaders with videoloink.
“Tomorrow, I hope the Allies will agree to provide additional support, including Cybersecurity assistance and equipment to help Ukraine protect against chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats,” Stoltenberg said.
“We are determined to do everything we can to support Ukraine. But we have the responsibility to ensure that the war does not increase outside Ukraine and become a conflict between NATO and Russia,” he said.
This step came when US President Joe Biden warned Russian “real threats” could use chemical weapons in Ukraine.
“The use of chemical weapons will truly change the nature of conflict, and it will be a violation of the international law and will have a distant consequence of reaching,” Stoltenberg said.
Head NATO said the leaders would also overcome the “role of China” in the Ukrainian conflict because Beijing fears could return Moscow.
“China has provided Russia with political support, including spreading blatant lies and wrong information, and allies worried that China can provide material support for the Russian invasion,” Stoltenberg said.
“I hope the leaders will ask China to fulfill their responsibilities as members of the UN Security Council, refrain from supporting the efforts of Russian War, and joining the world in calling for a peaceful end for this war.”
